The Holy Trinity high school fall athletic teams began their preparations for the upcoming season this past

Wednesday, August 9 with Girls volleyball, Boys soccer and Cross Country all hosting their first day of practices.
These sessions lead to regular season action that tips off the week of August 21 and culminates 13 weeks hence in state playoff competition come October. It should be noted that Coed Flag Football will have their first day of tryouts on August 21.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Returning varsity coach Marcelina Tokarczyk and assistants Qiana Young and Tom Raehl, greeted 46 hopefuls at their first session including 16 freshmen.
"It is a pleasant dilemma in terms of having this many individuals in the program for this season," commented second-year mentor coach Tokarczyk. "With only one gym we will need to have practices well-planned to get the most out of every second we have to be ready for the season ahead."
The coaches have nine days of drills and strategy planned and will get their first look at the squads "on the court" in the annual Blue and Gold scrimmages set for Friday August 18 in the main gym. Start time is 4pm.
The following week, non-conference action ushers in the 2017 campaign as the Lady Tigers host Catalyst-Maria on Tuesday August 22 -- (Jv/V -- matches @ 4:30pm/5:30pm) and follow the next day with a set of matches versus local rival Noble Street Charter on August 23 -- (Jv/V -- matches @ 5pm/6pm).
A complete schedule for ALL HT Fall sports teams can be accessed at the school webpage (see the link listed below). Scores/notes/results will be posted on the IHSA-required website: maxpreps.com (see the link below) as well as on Scorestream.com (link below).

HT Moves from GCAC to the Chicago Prep:
After 24 years of competition in the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference, the Lady Tigers have made a move
to the Chicago Prep girls division in terms of athletic participation for this school year and the future.
This decision was made by HT's administration as a result of any mumber of small school programs closing
their doors for good in just the last five or so years.
Schools such as Notre Dame Girls, St. Scholastica, St. Gregory, Maria, Mt. Assisi (Lemont) and Queen of Peace (Burbank) found it very difficult to continue to operate and have shuttered their doors. And St. Benedict high school will not be offering high school athletics within a year or so as well.
In terms of the remaining GCAC Blue division -- or small school section -- only St. Francis de Sales, St. Joseph (West Chester) and Josephinum remain. The remainder of the GCAC are schools rated mostly 3A and 4A in size.
Thus this move seemed the right fit for the future of HT girls athletics and their small school status in competition.
As a result, after a long and dedicated 24 year tenure in the GCAC, HT will return to the Chicago Prep Conference, a league they were a part of from 1987 to 1993 just after the school went coed (1985).
HT will join Our Lady of Tepeyac, Prov/St. Mel, Cristo Rey, Northtown Charter, Ida Crown, Rochelle-Zell, Hope Academy, Christ the King and Ellison Charter, all of whom are 1A or 2A schools. It will be a new look with some old rivalries to renew and new ones to develop for sure.
