HT (17-6 overall) defeats Cristo Rey in the semifinal round by scores of 26-24, 25-20:
The Tigers were down and looking out in game one of this semifinal match versus the Cristeras. In fact HT trailed 1-11 and 9-18 before scratching their way back with timely hitting, basic defense and great serving efforts to eliminate the early deficits and close to 13-18 as Libero Moshay Turner
served points 11 to 13 to close the gap to five.
From here HT's Karol Gonzalez narrowed the gap to one at 19-20 in Cristo Rey's favor gaining service points 16 to 19 for the Tigers.
The Cristeras regained some momentum and moved to a 3-point advantage of 21-24 forcing HT mentor and coach Marcelina Tokarczyk to call a timeout. This seemed to energize the Tigers who gained a sideout on a kill by Rachel Asante to the right corner of the the Cristo Rey court and allowed Star Brooks to begin a 4-point service run which featured 2 kills by Asante and one from Cece Gardner to take game one by the 26-24 margin.
Game two was nip-and-tuck thru the first full rotation of both teams with Cristo Rey holding a 10-8 advantage.
