HT SPORTS: Lady Tigers 34, Catalyst-Maria 28

Roundup of weekend basketball action IN THE JUNGLE.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: HOLY TRINITY 34, CATALYST-MARIA 28:

Surviving a dual attack from Catalyst-Maria's Bashirah Momahmed (12 points on numerous drives to the basket) and Jasmine Ivery (15 points), Holy Trinity's Lady Tigers came up with their own late team scoring onslaught -- 20 second-half points -- and held on to defeat the visitors by a score of 34-28.
It was the fourth win in six outings for Holy Trinity on the season and featured Kurteshia Singleton
(8 points, five rebounds, three steals and an assits); Jada White (7 points, three rebounds and two steals)
and Cecily Gasildo (7 points, seven rounds).
Teammates Fatima Oalaitan (five boards and two steals) and Kristina Vargas (four points, two steals) and
Cece Gardner (six rebounds and three steals) rounded out the team effort.
Catalyst-Maria led 19 to 14 at the half with Momahmed totaling half of her point total at this juncture and
Ivery had 12.
But the Lady Tigers regrouped to dominate the third quarter, outscoring their foe 9 to 2 and then putting up
an 11-point fourth quarter effort to seal the win.

8 points on the day; Ashley (4); Rachael Asante (3); and two each from Abby Pacheco and Elizabeth.

BOYS FALL TO HOPE ACADEMY IN CPC OPENER.
The Tigers continued to struggled as they faced a talented Chicago Hope Academy eleven who came in to the
JUNGLE with a 4-2 record on the season.
Unfortunately for HT, the Eagles flew and the Tigers remained winless thru five contests on the season as
Hope powered their way to a 79 to 14 Chicago Prep conference victory.
The Eagles (5-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play) were led by Ajani Parker (19 points) and Javion May who
added 16.
Christian Trejo had eight points for the Tigers.

HT JV versus Cristo Rey Waukegan
The following afternoon, HT's Jv were victorious against a visiting Cristo Rey of Waukegan by a 45-26 margin.
Leading the way for the Tigers were Christian Trejo (15 points, four steals and 4 rebounds) and Ebeneezer
Nequaye (10 points and 8 rebounds with a steal).
HT trailed 15-14 at the half, but pressed their opponent early and often in the second half to outscore
the visitors 31 to 11 down the line for the win.
