HT Spring Sports Roundup from 05.11.17

Girls State Soccer at the 1A Timothy Christian regional semifinal:

HT topped Chicago Ogden Internation 5-0 to advance to Friday's regional championship game to be played at Elmhurst Timothy Christian. HT improved their record to 15 wins, one loss and two ties. Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Jennifer Rios and Atzihri Guido who each had two goals and Emily Gallegos who had the other. Assists went to Gallegos (3 total) and one each from Sui Len and Guido.

The Lady Tigers await the results of other semifinal game that featured host Timothy Christian vs. Chicago Noble Street Rauner. This second contest was delayed due to weather conditions -- severe weather -- and is schedule to resume at 4:30 pm on Thursday. There is no score in this contest.

Boys Volleyball: HT tops CICS Northtown 25-16, 25-18 to gain a second place finish in Chicago Prep league action. The Tigers are currently 11-7 overall and conclude league play with a 7-3 record.

In Wednesday's action (05-10 @ Northtown), the Tigers were led by Million Abay (seven kills, one block); Alex Munoz (5 kills, one dig and seven service points); Demetrius Reeves (3 kills, two blocks and one ace serve); Jonathan Vega (16 set assists); Edgar Godinez (seven service points, four aces and 1 block) and Christian Flores (one block, 3 ace serves and five service points).

The win secured a second place finish in league play. The CPC tourney opens next Monday (05/15) when the six conference teams vie for the playoff championship. Holy Trinity is scheduled to host seeds #2/#3/#6 while Cristo Rey will have seeds #1/#4/#5. More highlights shortly.

HT concludes their regular season action at Latin May 11th.
