HT Spring Sports update for the week of April 9 to 13

Covering ALL 5 Tiger spring sports action this week.

HT GSOC: TUESDAY, April 10th:

The HT Lady Tigers defeated Rochelle Zell Tuesday by a score of 2 to 0. HT improved to 6-2-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the Chicago Prep. It was a team effort with great defense, midfield and forward play. Sophomore Atzihri Guido scored both goals, giving her 25 on the season, which ties her record of last year when she set the single season women’s school scoring record. She now has 50 career goals at HT and is only 29 goals away from tying the school career goal record of 79 set by Alex Munoz from 2014 to 2017. Go Tigers!

TUESDAY, April 10th:
Softball dominated (at) Catalyst Maria last Tuesday, 26-1,
with contributions up and down the lineup, including a 3-run homer from Tina Vargas, one from Emily A., a no-hitter from Evelyn Padilla, and some pretty good defense.

THURSDAY, April 12th:
(at) Holy Trinity 11, Horizon Science 1.

Lady Tigers win in a 6 inning game vs. Horizon played @ Pulaski Park. The Tigers are now 4-3 on the season.
Highlights: Evelyn Padilla pitched a tremendous game, with one hit allowed. Hits by Emily Arizaga, Janae Landecho, Padilla, and Vargas, as well as great team defense, helped seal the win.

HT BVB:
TUESDAY, April 10th:

In Chicago Prep league action in Deerfield, Rochelle-Zell improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the CPC with their 25-16, 24-26, 25-19 win. HT (1-4 overall and 0-1 in league play) featured Million Abay (14 kills); Thomas Cheng (5 kills) and Jelani Jackson (7 service points). Jonathan Vega had 22 set assists and 9 service points for the visiting Tigers. Serving stats: HT: 61 attempts with 52 made for an 85% average with six ace serves.

WEDNESDAY, April 11th:
HT improved to 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in Chicago Prep league action with their 25-10, 25-10 victory
over visiting Christ the King on Tuesday. The Tigers were led by Million Abay (4 kills, 18 service points, and 7 aces); Jelani Jackson (3 kills) and Jonathan Vega (5 set assists and six service points). SERVING STATS: HT 49 attempts with 44 made for a 90% average and 12 ace serves on the day.

THURSDAY, April 12th:
Holy Trinity at Roycemore: The Tigers evened their record to 3-3 with a 25-20, 25-11 victory on the road.

HT BA:
WEDNESDAY, April 11th:
Playing a night game underneath the lights at Laramie Park, Tigers’ baseball defeated conference opponent
Ida Crown by a score of 4-1.
Highlights were Cristian Trejo’s strong pitching performance, Lorenzo
Penzado’s diving catch plus a sweet put out at 2nd base between catcher Xavier Sanchez and shortstop
Jesus Fernandez. The Tigers won their 5th game of the season and 73rd consecutive conference game, to
keep 1st place in the conference. Congrats baseball Tigers!

Friday, April 13 @ Hermosa Park. HT 11, Noble Rauner 1.

HT TRACK: There were individual winners -- Mosay Turner in the 200 m. dash and Mellanie in the 1600 meter run -- at the Lisle HS meet on Monday, April 10th. Congrats to the team and coach Gladden.
