Koncrete Nightclub Shut Down; Owner Accused of 911 Misuse
Owner accused of trying to divert police attention following a fatal shooting Sunday morning. Club closed until further notice.

CHICAGO, IL - The Koncrete Nightclub in Bucktown was shut down by Chicago police Wednesday, three days after a 21-year-old woman was killed by gunfire outside following an altercation in the club.
The temporary closure will be in effect for six months or “until the establishment works with CPD and city officials to develop an approved public safety plan to ensure it no longer threatens public welfare,” according to a news release.
An investigation by police and the city’s Department of Business Affairs revealed that Koncrete’s owner knew the people involved in the fight out were in the club,did not tell authorities and neglected to request emergency medical attention.

“Additionally, the establishment’s owner placed 911 calls with the intent to deflect attention from the establishment as the origin of the conflict,” according to police.
A 23-year-old man injured in Sunday’s incident, which occurred at 3:40 a.m., is at Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.

Police officials, who say the nightclub’s history of violent incidents dates back more than two years, determined the club’s operation constitutes “an immediate public safety threat.”
“We all have a vital role to play in keeping our communities safe and the Chicago Police Department will stop at nothing to protect our residents and business patrons from the threats of gun violence,” said Police Commander Marc Buslik.
