La Pasadita Fails Health Inspection

How did your favorite local restaurants and bakeries fare on City of Chicago restaurant inspections?

Patch examined inspection reports in Bucktown and Wicker Park over the past month. Information has been compiled using publicly available data published to the website of the Chicago Department of Public Health's Food Protection Program.

Restaurants can pass, pass with conditions or fail using a standardized procedure. Establishments that pass don't have any critical or serious violations. Those that receive 'pass with conditions' had serious violations, but the violations were corrected during the inspection. Failed establishments had serious violations that weren't correctable during the inspection. A fail rating does not mean the business's license is automatically suspended.

All inspections are done on a routine canvass, unless otherwise noted.

La Pasadita, 1140 N. Ashland Ave.

Inspection date: Dec. 28
Results: Fail
Violations: Inspectors said the dish washing sink's grease trap box and drain lines needed cleaning. Violations from an earlier Nov. 11, 2011 inspection had also not been corrected. Managers were told to repair rusty wire shelving and chipping raw wood shelving. Additional cleaning needed included: coolers, inside and out; shelving; stoves and equipment; all food prep tables; all surfaces behind the front counter; and the rear kitchen area. Floors and walls, too, were in need of scrubbing, the report said. The to-do list also included a re-organization of the restaurant's dry storage areas to prevent pest infestations.
