Two people were shot after partygoers gathered at an Airbnb rental in the neighborhood, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — Police are investigating a massive party at a Logan Square Airbnb that ended in a shootout. Two people were shot in the 1900 block of North Lawndale Avenue July 1, police said. Many families live in the normally-peaceful neighborhood, and the shooting has sparked outrage.

A surveillance video shows a crowd of people in the street as a car pulls up. It shows more than a dozen people running down an alley.

Police said a 27-year-old man was shot in back and was in critical condition. A 23-year-old woman was shot in the leg, and listed in good condition, according to police.

As first reported by Block Club Chicago, neighbors said they woke up around 3:30 a.m. to a "full-blown gun battle." One of the neighbors was terrified after finding more than a dozen bullet holes on her property, some of which hit the same wall that her kids sleep behind, according to ABC 7.

"People were shooting at waist height, but had those bullets been going upward, I don't even want to think of what would've happened," she told ABC 7.
