Man Charged After Woman Punched, Robbed On Near West Side

A man has been charged after allegedly carjacking a man and robbing a woman less than a week apart in January, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A Humboldt Park man faces charges after police said he stole a car at gunpoint, then days later beat a woman and threw her to the ground. The man threatened to shoot the woman, then robbed her, police said. Both incidents happened on Chicago's Near West Side, police said.

Jesse Davis, 19, allegedly went up to the 28-year-old man around 2:45 p.m. Jan. 7 in the 2100 block of West Monroe, and stole his vehicle at gunpoint, police said.

Then on Jan. 13, police said Davis attacked and robbed the 28-year-old woman around 3:45 p.m. in the 600 block of North Wolcott. Davis allegedly punched the woman, threw her to the ground, and threatened to shoot her before stealing her cell phone, according to police.

Davis was already being held without bail on separate felony charges when he was identified as the offender in the robbery and carjacking, police said.

Davis was charged Wednesday with one felony count each of aggravated battery, armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated vehicular carjacking with a firearm.
