Man Charged With Beating, Robbing Woman In Bucktown

A 27-year-old man turned himself in after a woman was beaten and robbed in Bucktown.

CHICAGO, IL — A man from the city's Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side turned himself in after a woman was attacked and robbed in Bucktown. Deonta Terry, 27, has been charged in connection with the assault. He's in custody at the Wentworth District police station, police said.

Terry allegedly followed the woman from the CTA Blue Line stop at North and Damen Avenues at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, police said. He pulled her into a gangway in the 1600 block of North Bell Avenue, according to police, and allegedly beat, robbed, and disrobed her.

Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect Tuesday evening, and he turned himself in about four hours later.

Terry has been charged with robbery, kidnapping with force, aggravated battery involving strangling and attempted criminal sexual assault with the use of force–all felony counts, police said.

He was scheduled to appear in bond court Friday.
