Man Tries To Lure Boy From Elementary School In Logan Square

Police said the man tried to offer candy to the boy.

CHICAGO — In a community alert, police warned of an attempted child luring in the Logan Square neighborhood at around 11:30 Thursday morning. A man tried to lure a boy during recess at Mozart Elementary School in the 2200 block of North Hamlin Avenue, police said.

The suspect, who was driving a small gray four-door SUV with tinted windows, called out to the boy, according to the community alert.

Police said the man offered candy to the boy, and the child replied, "No, thank you." The man then tried to take a photo of the boy with a cellphone, but the child covered his face, ran into the school, and reported the incident to a counselor, police said.
