Orthopedic Specialists to Discuss Bone and Joint Health on October 29

Featuring two orthopedic specialists on staff at Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, Chicago.

Is joint pain or a nagging sports injury preventing you from exercising on a regular basis? Learn how to lose the pain and become active again at a free program, “Bone and Joint Health,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on October 29 at Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center (PSMEMC), Nazareth Family Center, 1127 N. Oakley Blvd., (enter at Thomas St. and Oakley Blvd.), Chicago.

Community residents are invited to this educational program featuring two orthopedic specialists on staff at PSMEMC: Gabriel Levi, MD, Joint Reconstruction Specialist and Chief of Orthopedic Surgery; and Nicholas Frisch, MD, Orthopedic Surgery/Sports Medicine. The surgeons will discuss:

• Caring for your joints
• Sports injuries
• Joint conditions such as arthritis, tendonitis and ligament problems
• Treatment options for joint pain
• Physical therapy
• Medications
• Joint replacement surgery

The program will feature appetizers and beverages, a free fitness kit with pedometer and water bottle to the first 100 attendees, and a raffle for a FitBit fitness tracker. Attendees can ask questions after the session.

“There is no need to be in pain and sidelined from your favorite sport or activity,” Dr. Frisch said. “Attendees will learn about ways to prevent joint pain, recognize signs of arthritis, and how to prevent and recognize common sports injuries.”

Participants also will learn about the latest techniques in joint replacement surgery, as well as arthroscopy (a minimally invasive procedure to diagnose and treat joint problems) and non-operative treatments for common joint conditions that are being used at PSMEMC.

“This program will present good information for sports enthusiasts, as well as those who want to become more physically active,” Dr. Levi said. “Learn how orthopedic specialists and physical therapists are helping our patients every day to stay active with less pain.”
