Pastor Removed From Chicago Parish After Alleged Improper Conduct
A pastor at a church in River West faces allegations of misconduct with other men, according to the Chicago Archdiocese.

CHICAGO, IL — A pastor at St. John Cantius Church has been removed by the Chicago Archdiocese, according to the church's website. Church members reported they were told about the longtime pastor's removal during Sunday services. Reverend Frank Phillips served for several decades, but was removed after allegations that he had improper conduct with other men, Cardinal Blase Cupich said in a statement to parishioners.
According to the statement, the allegations were "credible," and did not involve any minors.
“I am aware that this is difficult news to receive, but the Archdiocese of Chicago is committed to ensuring those serving our parishioners are fit for ministry,” Cupich said in the statement. “Know that this decision was made after careful consideration. I will continue to pray for you and am confident the Lord will sustain the St. John Cantius community as you make this transition.”
