A stunningly clear surveillance video shows a man who police say is stealing packages from vestibules in Bucktown and Lakeview.

Chicago police say the man has struck twice this month, on Oct. 11 at 10:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Winnebago Avenue, and at 5:50 a.m. Oct. 23, in the 1900 block of Diversey Parkway.

In the video, a man is seen peddling up to the glass entry door of the Diversey Parkway building. He pries open the door and enters the building with an empty duffle bag. Less than a minute later, the bag appears full when he exits the building. He gets on his bike and rides off.

The suspect is described as a male white or white Hispanic, between 40-50 years old, 5-feet-10-inches tall, weighing around 190 pounds. He is seen wearing a black or dark blue New York Yankees baseball cap with a white-trimmed brim still retaining the “59/Fifty” sticker on the top brim, blue sweatshirt or jacket, tan pants, gym shoes and carrying a black duffel bag.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information related to the thefts is asked to contact the Area North Bureau of Detectives at 312-744-8263.
