Police Shoot at Driver on North Hoyne Avenue
Police said the driver hit cars and then aimed at police officers.
Just before midnight Tuesday, a Chicago police officer shot a motorist who aimed his car at the cops after driving into several parked cars in Wicker Park. The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating the incident, which took place in the 1500 block of North Hoyne Avenue.
The driver, in his 20s, acted "extremely belligerent and totally unreasonable" when police pulled him over after witnessing him strike the cars, said police union spokesman Pat Camden. The officers tried to subdue him with pepper spray, but the driver put his car into reverse and aimed at the officers, Camden said. The driver was shot once in the leg, according to police.
