Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center Welcomes Arrival of First Baby Born in 2015
PSMEMC staff presented the new mom, dad and baby with a gift basket.

Chicago, Ill. – January 7, 2015 – Entering the world at 10:14 a.m. on January 1, Khloe Averi Soto was the first baby to be born in 2015 at Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center (PSMEMC) in Chicago. She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces.
This is the first child for parents Crystal Martinez and Jose Soto of Chicago’s Hermosa neighborhood. Sonya Thomas, MD, obstetrician and gynecologist, delivered the baby, along with help from Lisa Neigebauer, RN, and other nurses in The Family Birthplace.
To celebrate the New Year’s Day arrival, PSMEMC staff presented the new mom, dad and baby with a gift basket filled with a teddy bear, diapers, wipes, blanket, champagne flutes and sparkling cider.

More than 1,500 babies are born annually at The Family Birthplace, which provides comprehensive, around-the-clock care by a team of specialists. The team includes board-certified obstetricians, certified nurse-midwives (CNMs), anesthesiologists and a neonatologist with special training in caring for high-risk newborns. PSMEMC offers advanced care nurseries (Level II+) with state-of-the-art monitoring and neonatal intensive care.
