Store Owner Shot In Head During Robbery On Northwest Side

The owner of a money order business was killed Wednesday in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

CHICAGO, IL — The owner of a currency exchange business was shot and killed by a masked robber Wednesday on the city's Northwest Side, police said. The shooting happened in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood in the 5000 block of West Fullerton. The shooter then got away on a CTA bus, police said.

The owner of Envios De Dinero, 46-year-old Horacio Galvan-Hernandez, was working in his store when a robber came in and shot him in the head, police said.

According to several reports, a nearby business released surveillance video of the suspect, who may have left his mask behind.

Family and friends of Galvan-Hernandez lit candles in remembrance of him Wednesday evening.

No one was in custody as of Thursday afternoon and the investigation was ongoing.
