Victim of Bucktown Burglary Can't Understand Why Cops Won't Respond
A home burglary was clearly caught on video three weeks ago. The victim doesn't know why an evidence team has yet to respond.

CHICAGO, IL - Chicago police are in no rush to solve a home burglary in Bucktown in which the burglar appears to have been captured clearly on video.
That’s what the victim, Miguel Martinez, says.
Martinez told NBC-Chicago this past weekend that it has been three weeks since a man broke into a basement window at the residence in the 1600 block of N. Bell, gathered expensive items such as two Macbooks, a PlayStation 3 and an iPad and left the place with the items in one of Martinez’ suitcases.
“Anything that was electronic they took,” Martinez said, estimating the value of the stolen goods at $20,000.
The break-in, and departure, was clearly caught on video.
But Martinez has not had any luck getting in touch with an evidence team. A police officer did arrive at the scene when Martinez noticed the burglary and called, but has not received any follow-up since.
“Afterwards, I get nothing. I call back about five more times in the last three weeks, and still nothing. I’ve left five voicemails,” Martinez said. “Absolutely nothing has happened.”
Chicago police did issue a statement Monday indicating they are aware of the incident and have access to the video. The Chicago Police Department is also investigating whether this incident was dispatched properly and "in accordance with CPD standards and protocols."
