1 Critically Injured in Long Grove Crash
Authorities are now trying to determine if the driver had a medical condition that caused him to crash, police said.
LONG GROVE, IL — A driver was critically injured in a one-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Long Grove, authorities said. The Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to the collision on Route 22 at Miranda Lane about 9:10 a.m. on Sunday.
Authorities said a preliminary investigation shows the driver of the car, a 63-year-old man from unincorporated Deerfield, was heading west on Route 22 at a low rate of speed when he veered off the road, went into a ditch and bit several trees, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
When authorities arrived, the man was unresponsive. Deputies initiated life-saving efforts on the man until they were relieved by Long Grove Fire Protection District paramedics, police said.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit and crash investigators are working to determine if the crash could be medically related.
