1 Dead After Buffalo Grove House Fire: Village

The Monday morning fire remains under investigation, according to the Village of Buffalo Grove.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — One person is dead following a house fire Monday morning in the 600 block of Woodhollow Lane. The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the release of their identity is pending an examination from the Lake County Coroner.

According to the Village of Buffalo Grove, firefighters arrived at the working fire in a garage attached to the two-story house five minutes after a call was made at 10:22 a.m. Officials said heavy flames in the garage were spreading to the house, and there were reports of one person unaccounted for.

Firefighters began an "aggressive" interior attack of the fire with hose lines to both the garage and house, while continuing to search for any trapped occupants. During the search, they found the deceased.

Officials said the fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes. An investigation is being led by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department in conjunction with the Illinois State Fire Marshal.

BGFD was assisted by fire departments from Arlington Heights, Lincolnshire, Lindenhurst, Lake Forest, Long Grove, Wheeling, Prospect Heights, Glenview, Wauconda and Rolling Meadows, as well as Buffalo Grove police and the public works department.
