117 Citations Issued During Distracted Driving Month: Buffalo Grove PD

April's monthlong effort was funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Though April's Distracted Driving Awareness Month enforcement campaign had concluded, Buffalo Grove police remain on the lookout for violations.

During the monthlong initiative, BGPD issued 67 citations for hands-free law violations, 20 speeding citations, 12 seatbelt citations and 17 additional citations.

"Driver distraction is a persistent issue in Buffalo Grove that could result in life-altering consequences," BGPD Commander Tara Anderson said. "Enforcement contacts are proven to change motorists' behavior. Distracted Driving Awareness Month may be over, but we will continue to stop motorists from engaging in this deadly behavior."
