3 Arrested Following Targeted Carjacking In Long Grove: Sheriff
Police believe Wednesday's incident was an organized plan to steal a box truck loaded with electronics.

LONG GROVE, IL — Three Chicago men are facing felony charges following a carjacking incident Wednesday in the area of Route 53 and Long Grove Road. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office approved the charges, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
At around 1 p.m., police responded to the area for an initial report described as a disturbance. As LCSO 911 dispatchers grained more information, police said it became evident the incident was likely an aggravated vehicular hijacking.
Soon thereafter, police determined the victim, a 36-year-old Plainfield man, was driving a box truck northbound on Route 53 when it was rear-ended by a U-Haul truck. After the crash, the victim exited his vehicle and spoke to the U-Haul driver. At that moment, a minivan pulled up and two additional people exited. Working in coordination, police said the three suspects pepper-sprayed the victim and stole his box truck. Each person then fled in one of the three vehicles: the minivan, U-Haul, and the stolen box truck.
