70 Citations Issued During Holiday Traffic Campaign: Buffalo Grove PD

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Calling impaired driving "dangerous behavior," the Buffalo Grove Police Department released the results of its latest holiday traffic safety campaign Monday, which included 70 citations. The nearly three-week campaign ran from Dec. 15, 2023, through Jan. 2, 2024.

According to police, here is a breakdown of citations and arrests made in Buffalo Grove:

  • • One DUI arrest
  • • Two traffic arrests for suspended license/no valid license
  • • Two distracted driving citations
  • • Two child seat citations
  • • 25 seat belt citations
  • .• 20 speeding citations
  • • 18 additional citations

BGPD partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation and law enforcement agencies statewide for the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" effort. Officials said 75 traffic stops were made.

"We need to drive the message home: Impaired driving is dangerous behavior. It's illegal and endangers the driver, their passengers and everyone else on the road," Commander Tara Anderson said. "The 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' campaign helps law enforcement deal with the problem head-on. If you're under the influence, don't get behind the wheel."

The holiday enforcement campaign is administered by IDOT with federal highway safety funds managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
