BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A Vernon Hills man is facing multiple charges following an alleged incident at a Buffalo Grove hotel last month in which he is accused of choking a woman until she lost consciousness. Bat E. Baasanbat, 28, is accused of felony aggravated battery and unlawful restraint, and was arrested Thursday by the Palatine Police Department on an unrelated issue.
On April 16, Buffalo Grove police responded to the Extended Stay America Suites Chicago-Buffalo Grove-Deerfield, 1525 Busch Parkway for an unknown problem. Officers located a female with bruising on her face, who told police she was choked until she lost consciousness. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries and later released.
According to police, a suspect fled the scene. Officers from Buffalo Grove, Arlington Heights, Lincolnshire, and Riverwoods conducted a search of the area, but were unsuccessful.
During the subsequent investigation, Baasanbat was identified as the suspect, and a felony arrest warrant was obtained following approval from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
On April 30, Palatine police received a call for an unrelated matter in their community, identified Baasanbat, and requested Buffalo Grove investigators respond. He was arrested and taken to the Buffalo Grove Police Department.
Baasanbat had a preliminary hearing on Friday.
