Buffalo Grove Arts Center Renamed For Longtime Commissioner

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The Buffalo Grove Park District Community Arts Center has been renamed in honor of longtime Commissioner Scott Jacobson.

The Buffalo Grove Park District Board of Commissioners voted to rename the facility the Scott Jacobson Community Arts Center, recognizing Jacobson’s 25 years of service on the board.

Jacobson was first elected in April 2001 and is the second-longest-serving commissioner in park district history, according to the park district. He has been elected to seven consecutive four-year terms.

“While it is difficult to put into words what it feels like to have a building named after you, what means the most is the opportunity I have had to serve this wonderful community and work alongside dedicated commissioners, staff, volunteers, and residents to make Buffalo Grove an even better place to live,” Jacobson said.

Jacobson said he is grateful to the people who supported him during his time with the district, including his family, friends, park district staff, colleagues and Buffalo Grove residents.

“This honor belongs to all of you as much as it does to me,” Jacobson said. “Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving this community for the past 25 years. I look forward to continuing that service in the years ahead.”

Buffalo Grove Park District Board President Hetal Wallace said the district is “thrilled” to rename the arts center for Jacobson.

“Commissioner Jacobson has spent decades working to make our community a better place to live, play, and grow,” Wallace said. “Naming this facility after Scott ensures his legacy of service will inspire families for generations to come.”
