As part of the celebration and in recognition of the nation’s upcoming 250th birthday, the nearby Ernie Karge Rotary Village Green has been illuminated in red, white and blue in the days leading up to July 4. Village officials said the lighting creates a festive backdrop for photos or an evening stroll before and after the celebration.
The Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary season, will present a patriotic concert featuring American classics, movie themes, Broadway favorites, jazz selections and traditional Independence Day music.
Associate Conductor Allison Rakickas and Jeff Slepak, leader of the trombone section, will share the podium in conducting the program, which will showcase various American musical styles and genres, according to the village.
As fireworks light the sky at 9 p.m., the concert will conclude with “America the Beautiful” and “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
The expanded fireworks display will be launched from the Buffalo Grove Golf Course and is best viewed from Willow Stream Park.
