BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Another piece of The Clove is now open, as Buffalo Grove officials say the redevelopment continues to fill in with new businesses, residents and future tenants.
Dutch Bros Coffee opened earlier this month on the south end of The Clove at the former Burger King property near McHenry and Lake Cook roads, according to the village. The location is among the coffee chain's first in the Chicago area and is one of relatively few Dutch Bros stores with indoor seating.
Village President Eric Smith and Community Development Director Nicole Woods highlighted the opening in a video update released Tuesday.
"This is one of the first new establishments to open here on the south side of the Clove, which is exciting," Woods said.
She noted that the former Burger King property originally was not part of The Clove because it had separate ownership. Kensington Development Partners later acquired it, opening the door for redevelopment consistent with the rest of the project.
Patch reported in January 2025 that Kensington had purchased the former Burger King and Boston Market properties, allowing the previously separate parcels to be incorporated into the broader development.

One of the most anticipated remaining pieces is Whole Foods Market.
Woods said the grocery store remains on track to open in 2027 following a full interior and exterior renovation of its future space.
Patch reported in March that Whole Foods had taken over the lease for a building that previously had been planned for Amazon Fresh. Both grocery chains are owned by Amazon.
"We're excited about welcoming them into the village," Woods said in Tuesday's video.

The 250, the seven-story residential building anchoring the development, is now more than 90 percent leased, according to the village.
Woods said residents continue moving into the building and described it as one of developer Urban Street's fastest-leasing properties.
The original Clove plan called for approximately 295 luxury apartments along with first-floor commercial space. Those storefronts are now ready for interior buildouts once tenants are secured.
Construction also continues on Naani's Cafe in the north building next to Sushi Grove, with the restaurant expected to open in the coming months.
Bowlero, meanwhile, is being rebranded as Lucky Strike. The building is expected to receive new exterior paint, signage and branding as part of the transition.
Village officials also said future tenants are still being sought for commercial space on the first floor of The 250 and for other portions of the site, including the former Boston Market property and an eatery site north of the planned Clove Park.
Planning is also continuing for Clove Park, the village-owned public space envisioned as part of the development.
Village staff are working through financial and construction planning, with a more detailed timeline still being developed.
The park was part of the original vision approved for The Clove in 2022. That plan called for roughly 78,000 square feet of new commercial space, the residential building and a public park as part of a roughly $150 million redevelopment of the former Buffalo Grove Town Center.
Construction began later that year after the village approved the final plans and redevelopment agreement. At the time, officials called it the largest redevelopment project in Buffalo Grove's history.
Smith said the transformation around the McHenry Road and Lake Cook Road intersection has become increasingly visible.
"You think about this intersection six, seven years ago, none of that was there," Woods said, pointing to developments including Wild Fork, Lazy Dog and the building now occupied by Endeavor Health.
And village officials say The Clove itself is still far from finished.
