BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Buffalo Grove police issued 43 seat belt citations during a Labor Day weekend traffic enforcement campaign aimed at impaired driving and other roadway safety violations.
Of the seat belt citations, 11 were issued during nighttime hours, according to the Buffalo Grove Police Department.
Police also issued 31 citations for other traffic violations during the campaign.
"Through the Labor Day safety campaign, we helped to make our roads safer and spread the word about the risks of impaired driving — 'It's Not a Game,'" Sgt. Meghan Hansen said.
Buffalo Grove police worked with law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners across Illinois as part of the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Drive High Get a DUI" campaign.
The enforcement effort also included the "Click It or Ticket" initiative.
The campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
