HIGHLAND PARK (September 04, 2012) — Mesirow Financial today announced the hiring of Daniel A. Nickow as a managing director and Brett H. Salzer as a senior vice president in its Investment Advisory group working out of the firm’s Highland Park, Illinois office.  As part of the firm’s Investment Advisory business, the team works closely with individuals, families business owners, not-for-profits and foundations. As fiduciaries, they work side by side with their clients and their external advisors to develop planning strategies that help address client’s needs and goals in order to execute a comprehensive wealth management strategy.

Nickow has more than 25 years of experience in the investment industry. Prior to joining Mesirow Financial, he was a second vice president – wealth management at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney for 14 years. Before that, he was an options trader at the Chicago Board Options Exchange for 12 years. Nickow received both his bachelor of science degree and M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor^SM (CRPC^®) designee. Nickow and his wife and four children live in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

Salzer has more than 15 years of business and securities-related experience. Prior to joining Mesirow Financial, he was a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney for six years. Before that, he was vice president of operations at Five Star Development Group and a regional sales manager at Yahoo. Salzer is also an adjunct professor at Roosevelt University, where he has been teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in finance at the College of Business for 13 years. Salzer received his bachelor of science degree from Purdue University and an M.B.A. from Roosevelt University. He is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor^SM (CRPC^®) designee. Salzer and his wife and two children live in Northbrook, Illinois.
