Boy, 13, Struck By Vehicle While Riding Bicycle In Buffalo Grove

Police said the boy was in a crosswalk when the Wednesday morning incident occurred.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A 13-year-old boy was struck by a car Wednesday morning while on his bicycle in a crosswalk. According to police, the incident occurred at around 7:28 a.m. on Weiland Road near Newtown Drive.

The boy received treatment at the scene and was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge by Buffalo Grove paramedics, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that a car driven by a 66-year-old Wheeling resident was traveling northbound on Weiland Road when they struck the boy. Police said the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with authorities. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday afternoon.

The case is currently under investigation by the Buffalo Grove Police Department’s traffic unit, along with the Major Crash Assistance Team.
