Northwestern University Junior is Honored by Sodexo for Her Work Fighting Hunger in Chicago Area Communities
Student President of Campus Kitchen at Northwestern University and Buffalo Grove resident, Sarah Suh, is awarded a 2013 Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarship
Sodexo recognized Northwestern University junior, Sarah Suh at its Diversity Business Leadership Summit in Chicago for her work fighting hunger in local communities. Sodexo president and CEO George Chavel presented her with a certificate for the Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarship, which provides $5,000 toward her education at Northwestern, a matching $5,000 grant in her name for the hunger-relief organization of her choice, and a trip to Washington, D.C. in June where she will be formally awarded the scholarship along with four
additional student recipients.
“Not many people know that 1 in 6 Cook County residents are food insecure. That’s 16 percent of those who live in Cook County that don’t always know where their next meal is coming from”, said Chavel. “Sarah’s volunteer efforts are playing a critical role in the fight to end hunger in the area and we are proud to award her this scholarship.”
Suh, a resident of Buffalo Grove, Ill., is student president of the Campus Kitchen
at Northwestern University (CKNU). Support for the organization is aligned with Sodexo’s STOP Hunger initiative, which spans 42 countries on 6 continents and
mobilizes communities to join together in the fight against hunger, malnutrition and food waste locally. Suh has volunteered more than 800 hours to CKNU and helped serve nearly 17,000 meals in the Evanston, Ill. community. She plans to present the matching $5,000 grant to the Campus Kitchen at Northwestern University.

Sodexo’s STOP Hunger initiative has a long history in Cook County and throughout Illinois. Since 1997, Sodexo’s Feeding Our Future® program has provided approximately 268,250 meals to children in the greater Chicago area. Last year Sodexo employees raised and donated almost $40,000 to the Northern Illinois Food Bank. And since 2000, Sodexo Foundation has provided Chicago hunger-relief organizations with 34 grants totaling more than $1,395,600.
