Buffalo Grove Bids Fond Farewell to Village Trustee

The Village of Buffalo Grove honored 15-year Trustee Steven Trilling at the Monday, June 19, 2017 Village Board meeting, where he publicly submitted the resignation of his elected position due to moving out of Buffalo Grove, effective July 2017. Senior Trustee Jeff Berman cited Trilling’s honor and distinction while serving the community during the meeting.

In 1993, Trilling was appointed to the Appearance Commission where he served until 1995, and then went onto the Plan Commission until 2002 when he was elected Village trustee. In his role on the Village Board, Trilling served as a Liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission, on the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, the Buffalo Grove Days and Farmers’ Market Committees, and the Commission for Residents with Disabilities.

“I would like to thank all of the residents of Buffalo Grove for their continued support during my tenure on the board,” Trilling said. “Personally, it has been an honor and a privilege to serve on their behalf and I encourage all residents to become active in their community whether by volunteering on a commission/board or serving in an elected capacity. The vitality and strength of our Village excels with everyone’s active participation.”

During his tenure, the Village of Buffalo Grove was awarded a Aaa bond rating from Moody’s Investor Services and a AAA bond rating from Standard and Poor’s, in addition to being named number 23 on the list of the top 100 safest cities in the United States by NeighborhoodScout. Money® Magazine also named Buffalo Grove one of the Best Places to Live in the United States in 2013, and Niche.com rated the community as the number one place to live in Illinois, and seventh on the list of best places to live in the U.S., in 2017.

Among the many causes he dedicated his time to have been the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, Buddy Baseball, Step Out-Walk to Stop Diabetes, BG Days Fun and Food program for persons with disabilities, the Chamber/Village Charity Softball game benefiting the Village's Chaplaincy Program, the Village’s Bicycle Committee and others.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iowa and is licensed as an Illinois Professional Engineer. Trilling and his wife Lilia have been Buffalo Grove residents for 33 years, and have two children, David and Lauren.
