Maltas received the award at the annual IAMMA conference on April 22, 2016, which resulted from two peer nominations.

“Even with commitments outside of the Village of Buffalo Grove, Jennifer has been instrumental in mentoring a cadre of management analysts preparing them for the next phase in their career,” said Scott Anderson, Finance Director for the Village of Buffalo Grove, in his nomination letter.

Maltas began her career in local government as an intern for the Village of Schaumburg in 2005. Once she achieved her Masters of Public Administration from Northern Illinois University, the Village of Schaumburg created a new position for Maltas and hired her as a management analyst.

Melissa DeFeo, a Village of Northfield management analyst, also nominated Maltas for the award. Her nomination letter read in part, “Jennifer took me under her wing and helped me to become comfortable in my new position. She introduced me to helpful resources and worked with me to improve my networking skills. I attribute a number of my successes to her mentorship.”

In 2010, Maltas became the Assistant to the Village Manager for the Village of Deerfield. After three years in that role, she was appointed as the Deputy Village Manager of the Village of Buffalo Grove, where she continues to work today.
