Buffalo Grove Fire Department Fundraising For Project Fire Buddies
The nonprofit was created by firefighters looking to build relationships and support for families battling critical childhood illnesses.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Earlier this year, through a partnership between the Buffalo Grove Fire Department and the Buffalo Grove Professional Firefighters and Paramedics Local 3177, BG Fire Buddies was formed. The group is a local chapter of Project Fire Buddies, a non-profit organization created by firefighters looking to build relationships and support for families battling critical childhood illnesses.
Now, BG Fire Buddies is selling t-shirts and hoodies to raise funds through Nov. 6. Shirts are available in adult sizes small through 3XL in red, royal blue, black and dark gray, according to a news release. Shirts are $20 and hoodies are $40 each. Orders can be placed by completing the form at vbg.org/PFBshirts, and payments are accepted by cash or Venmo (@ProjectFireBuddies).
"While we accept donations at any time, the shirt sales are a great opportunity for the community to promote the cause and raise awareness of our efforts," said Mike Manka, a Buffalo Grove firefighter and paramedic, who also serves as president for BG Fire Buddies. "We hope by spreading awareness, we will be able to find local families to support."
