Buffalo Grove Man Nabbed With 'Large Amounts' Of Drugs: Sheriff

The 33-year-old has been charged with six felonies following his arrest Wednesday, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A 33-year-old Buffalo Grove man was arrested Wednesday and charged with six felonies for possessing and manufacturing what authorities are calling "large amounts" of drugs. Zans Batjuks, 33, of the 400 block of Castlewood Lane, remains in the Lake County Jail, with an initial court appearance scheduled for Thursday.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, following an undercover investigation, a search of Batjuks' home resulted in the seizure of 315 grams of MDMA (ecstasy/Molly), 15 ecstasy pills, cocaine and more than 5,200 grams of cannabis. Batjuks has been charged with the following felonies, as approved by the Lake County State's Attorney's Office:

  • 2 counts of manufacturing ecstasy
  • 2 counts of unlawful possession of ecstasy
  • manufacturing/delivery of cannabis
  • unlawful possession of cannabis

"Our Special Investigations Group has once again collaborated with our local and federal partners to identify a person selling dangerous drugs in our community," Lake County Sheriff John D. Idleburg said. "I am proud of their continued work and their continued success removing deadly drugs from our community."

Police said the Lake County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Group and a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area funded task force conducted a joint investigation into the matter with Homeland Security Investigations. SIG had received information regarding the alleged activities of Batjuks to kickstart the investigation. LCSO also thanked the Buffalo Grove Police Department for assistance during the search warrant.
