Buffalo Grove Police Announce Fourth Of July Traffic Safety Campaign Results

The department announced there were more than 100 citations during the safety campaigns that ran from June 20 to July 7.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — If you saw more local police cars out patrolling roads than usual the last few weeks, you were not imagining it. As part of the annual Fourth of July "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," "Drive High, Get a DUI," and "Click it or Ticket" safety campaigns, the Buffalo Grove Police Department announced Wednesday it has made four arrests and issued 105 citations from June 20 through July 7.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this statewide effort aimed to get drunk, high and drugged drivers off the road while also encouraging seat belt use.

  • 54 seat belt violations.
  • 10 speeding.
  • Six distracted driving.
  • 35 other citations.


According to BGPD, the local police joined forces with more than 200 other state and local law enforcement agencies conducting the safety effort, which featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, including a media campaign.

The safety campaigns are funded e by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation. These efforts are complemented by IDOT's "It’s Not a Game" media campaign, which emphasizes the serious consequences of impaired driving and other unsafe driving behaviors.
