Buffalo Grove Police Issue 124 Citations During July Speed Campaign

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Buffalo Grove police issued 124 citations and made one traffic arrest during a monthlong enforcement campaign aimed at reducing speeding-related crashes and injuries.

The July initiative was part of a statewide traffic-safety effort involving local law enforcement agencies, the Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois State Police.

Of the 124 citations issued by Buffalo Grove police:

• 105 were for speeding.
• Four were for seat belt violations.
• 15 were for other traffic offenses.

Police did not provide details about the traffic arrest or specify the violations covered by the 15 other citations.

“We continue to urge all drivers traveling through our community to slow down, obey speed limits and drive responsibly,” Sgt. Meghan Hansen said in a statement. “Every decision you make behind the wheel matters — it’s truly not a game.”

The campaign was funded through federal traffic-safety money administered by IDOT.
