Buffalo Grove Police Issue 83 Citations During Traffic Safety Campaign

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Reminding motorists that "Speeding Catches Up With You," Buffalo Grove police announced 83 citations had been issued during its recent traffic safety campaign. Funded by federal highway safety dollars, the campaign ran from July 8 through Aug. 1.
During the enforcement campaign, the Buffalo Grove Police Department issued the following citations:
- 59 speeding citations
- 11 seat belt citations
- 2 suspended/revoked licenses
- 9 uninsured motorists
- 2 distracted driving citations
According to the BGPD, the campaign was part of a statewide effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police, aiming to reduce highway fatalities and injuries associated with speeding.

"We continue to urge all drivers traveling through our community to slow down, obey speed limits and drive responsibly," Commander Tony Turano said. "Every decision you make behind the wheel matters — it's truly not a game."
The campaign aligns with IDOT's broader "It's Not a Game" initiative, emphasizing that dangerous driving behaviors have serious consequences. The speed enforcement effort was funded by federal highway safety dollars administered by IDOT.
