Buffalo Grove, IL. – Students attending Meridian Middle School who participate in “National Walk/Bike to School Day” on October 2nd, will be met by Buffalo Grove Police Officers with goodies and giveaways.
Since 1997, “Walk to School Day” has been an effort to bring students and neighborhoods
together in an effort to build walkable communities. Over the past 22 years, the event has
evolved into an internationally celebrated day, aimed at ensuring children have safe paths to
walk to school. Buffalo Grove Officers will be greeting students and their parents upon arrival,
in hopes of giving them a great start to their day.

“It is important to our department that our young residents see officers in different capacities,”
said Chief Steven Casstevens. “The goal of this event is to build relationships and engage
with our community in a fun and somewhat spontaneous way.”
The treats to be passed out are being generously donated by Woodman’s of Buffalo Grove.
