Buffalo Grove Police Participating In National Drug Take Back Day
Bring unused prescription drugs to the Buffalo Grove Police Department during the event.
BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Like it did in April, the Buffalo Grove Police Department is participating in the upcoming 2023 National Drug Take Back Day. The event is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Buffalo Grove Police Department, 46 Raupp Blvd.
Residents with unused prescription drugs in their medicine cabinets can drop them off, but needles and inhalers will not be accepted.
The nationwide effort is spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Administration and local police departments. Here are some of the numbers nationally for April's event:

- Total Law Enforcement Participation: 4,497
- Total Collection Sites: 4,955
- Total Weight Collected: 663,725 lbs. (332 Tons)
- Total Weight All Time: 17,300,454 lbs. (8,650 Tons)
If you can't make it to the event, the BGPD has a safe disposal receptacle in the lobby available for drop-offs all year long. Residents and community members are encouraged to turn in expired or unused prescription drugs as a communal effort to keep them out of the wrong hands.
