BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Like other police departments across the state, Buffalo Grove recently ramped up enforcement efforts during the annual holiday "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign. The partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation to crack down on impaired driving during the holidays was held from Dec. 16 through Jan. 2.

According to police, while patrolling for impaired drivers, 15 seat belt violations, one speeding violation, two distracted driving and four other traffic citations were given during the campaign.

"We can’t stress this enough: Impaired driving is illegal, potentially deadly behavior, and it puts the driver, passengers and all road users at risk," Buffalo Grove Sergeant Tony Turano said. "The 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' campaign helps our law enforcement officers address this problem head on. If you use any impairing substance, do not get behind the wheel of a vehicle."
