Buffalo Grove Senator Offers Summer Book Club For Kids
State Sen. Adriane Johnson's program asks students to read eight books by Sept. 30.
BUFFALO GROVE, IL — State Sen. Adriane Johnson is offering a Summer Book Club for children and teens in the 30th Senate District.
The program asks students to read eight books of their choice during summer break, record the names of the books on a form and return the form to Johnson’s office by Sept. 30.
All students who complete the Summer Book Club will receive a certificate and be invited to a pizza party, according to Johnson’s office.

“My Summer Book Club is a great way for children to keep their imaginations engaged this summer,” Johnson, D-Buffalo Grove, said. “This program helps our youth maintain the habit of reading, find joy in books and prepare for the upcoming school year.”
Johnson’s 30th Senate District includes all or portions of Buffalo Grove, Green Oaks, Gurnee, Indian Creek, Knollwood, Libertyville, Lincolnshire, Mettawa, Mundelein, North Chicago, Park City, Vernon Hills, Wadsworth, Waukegan and Wheeling, according to her district office. The district is north of Chicago and includes a mix of urban communities and smaller towns in the northern suburbs.

Johnson said students of all ages are encouraged to participate.
“This is a great way to foster a lifelong love for reading,” Johnson said.
Interested participants can visit SenatorAdrianeJohnson.com/BookClub to fill out the form virtually. Parents and guardians can also call Johnson’s office at 847-672-6201 to request a copy by mail or stop by one of the libraries listed on the brochure to request a copy of the form.
