Buffalo Grove Student Named National Scholarship Winner
National Merit Scholarship Corporation released its final list Monday of scholar winners for 2024.
BUFFALO GROVE IL — The National Merit Scholarship Corporation named the final group of winners of 2024 National Merit Scholars Monday, including a student from Buffalo Grove. These scholar designees join more than 2,900 other college-sponsored award recipients who were announced in June, according to the Evanston-based organization.
Abra C. Giddings, of Buffalo Grove, was named a winner of the National Merit Case Western Reserve University Scholarship. The probable career field for the Adlai E. Stevenson High School (Lincolnshire) student is computer science.
The college-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship. In all, 149 colleges and universities are sponsoring approximately 3,700 Merit Scholarship awards for 2024. Sponsor colleges include 77 private and 72 public institutions located in 42 states and the District of Columbia.
