Buffalo Grove, Wheeling Rotary Clubs Help In-Need Families
For the last 30 years, both Rotary clubs have garnered food and funds to support the Thanksgiving Holiday Food Baskets program.

For the last 30 years, the Buffalo Grove and Wheeling Rotary Clubs have partnered to provide food for in-need families during the holidays.
The Thanksgiving Holiday Food Baskets program is now underway, where both clubs are accepting non-perishable food and cash donations to help the most in-need families in the Buffalo Grove and Wheeling areas.
A leader of the effort, Buffalo Grove Rotary Club member Denny Snyder, who has taken a strong role for the last several years to run the program.

“We are now in need of volunteers to help us; whether it’s a family project or a group of friends getting together to make a difference, it’s a great experience in giving back,” Snyder said.
Dates volunteers are needed at the Buffalo Grove Arts Center, 225 McHenry Road in Buffalo Grove include:

- Sorting Food: Tuesday, November 8 from 4pm-8pm
- Boxing Food: Wednesday, November 9 4pm-8pm
The donations will be distributed on Saturday, November 12 from 8am-noon, and additional volunteers are also being sought to help with that effort.
Buffalo Grove and Stevenson High School students are already slotted to help distribute the baskets on Saturday, but are required to have two adults in each vehicle with them.
In addition to collecting food for the baskets to be distributed, the clubs also provides gift cards to cover the cost of a turkey, ham or other meat options for the holiday meal, in addition to a game for families to enjoy together.
Donations can also be dropped off during the regular Buffalo Grove Rotary meeting on Thursday, November 3 at Lou Malnati’s, 85 S. Buffalo Grove Road in Buffalo Grove, between noon and 1:30pm. They can also be dropped off at the Edward Jones office at 791 S. Buffalo Grove Road in Buffalo Grove.
Donations can be accepted until Monday, November 7, and checks can be made payable to: Buffalo Grove Rotary Foundation. All donations are tax deductible.
Shorewood Development Group is one of the generous donors to the food basket program. The development group, who sponsored the Buffalo Grove Duck Race during Buffalo Grove Days, generously donated back their cash they won for having a winning duck in the race, to support the program.
