Buffalo Grove's Pinta Awarded Diversity Scholarship

The Adlai E. Stevenson senior and her family founded the Pinta Pride Project.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Molly Pinta, a senior at Adlai E. Stevenson, has been awarded the Diversity Scholarship by the National Society of High School Scholars. The Buffalo Grove resident and her family are the founders of the Pinta Pride Project, the nonprofit that "aims to highlight, normalize, and celebrate" the LBGTQ+ community in the northwest suburbs.

NSHSS is a national scholarship organization committed to advancing high achieving students and educators.

Pinta Pride Project organized the town's first pride parade and have hosted more than 30 events over the past five years, including major parades attended by thousands of people.

Pinta also serves as a youth ambassador for the Human Rights Campaign. She speaks with teachers and community leaders about inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community and how to support youth as they come out. Pinta spreads the message of inclusion by speaking in schools, places of worship, and local business organizations.
