Local students named to dean's list at James Madison University

James Madison University is pleased to announce that the following students made the dean's list for the spring 2020 semester. Students who earn dean's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899.

Min makes dean's list at Knox College

Jun Min, of Buffalo Grove, has been named to the Knox College dean's list of distinguished students for the 2020 winter term. To be named to the dean's list, a student must have earned at least 2.5 credits in the term, with a grade point average of 3.6 or better (on a 4.0 scale). Min's major is economics.

Legge graduates from University of Utah

The University of Utah congratulates 8,628 graduates in first-ever virtual commencement ceremony on April 30, 2020. The 151st general commencement can be viewed here.

The graduating class of 2020 includes students who graduated summer 2019, fall 2019 and spring 2020. Students in the Class of 2020 ranged in age from 18 to 69 and earned 9,280 degrees. Graduates represented 50 U.S. states and 59 foreign countries. This class is the first to graduate from the U since it was selected as a new member of the Association of American Universities-an invitation-only, prestigious group of 65 leading research institutions.

Chang named to dean's list at Wheaton College

Katie Chang, of Buffalo Grove, was named to the dean's list for the Spring 2020 semester.

To earn Dean's List honors at Wheaton, an undergraduate student must carry 12 or more credit hours and achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher on the 4.0 scale.

Fitzgerald makes president's list at Miami University

Megan Fitzgerald, of Buffalo Grove, was named to the spring 2019-20 president's list.

Miami University students who are ranked in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2019-20 have been named to the president's list recognizing academic excellence.

Fitzgerald is majoring in psychology and social work.

Local residents make dean's list at Clemson University

Clemson University has announced the Dean's List for the spring 2020 semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student achieved a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.

Kang inducted into Phi Beta Kappa

Inkyu Kang, of Buffalo Grove, was one of 56 Hofstra University students inducted into Phi Beta Kappa on May 4. The ceremony was held online. Inkyu is majoring in Pre Medical Studies at Hofstra. Phi Beta Kappa is considered America's most prestigious honor society, with the top 10 percent of liberal arts and science graduates invited to join. There are fewer than 300 chapters of the honor society in the country.
