BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Officers from the Buffalo Grove Police Department will be staking out the rooftop of a local Dunkin' Donuts location on Friday, May 19, as part of the 20th annual Cop on a Rooftop event. Money is being raised for the Law Enforcement Torch Run and will benefit Special Olympics Illinois. Local officers can be spotted from 5 a.m. to noon atop Dunkin' Donuts at 1165 N. Old McHenry Road and 245 McHenry Road in Buffalo Grove. According to the Village of Buffalo Grove, attendees can "contribute to the cause, score some merch, earn a free donut and enter a raffle to win a Harley-Davidson motorcycle."According to the event's <a href="https://www.soill.org/blog/events/dunkin/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">website</a>, more than $925,000 was raised across 315 locations in the state last year. That money helped 21,000 athletes of Special Olympics Illinois. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Dunkin' and Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois partnership. This partnership between Dunkin' and Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run has "has been a huge success over the years," with more than $7.6 million has been raised in Illinois. Each guest who makes a donation to the Torch Run will receive a coupon for a free donut. Guests who donate $10 or more will receive a LETR/ Dunkin' branded travel mug (while supplies last) and a coupon for a free medium hot coffee.
