Couple Found Dead, Gun Recovered From Wheeling Home: Police

WHEELING, IL — A couple, described by police as being in their 40s and in a "strained" domestic relationship, were found dead Thursday evening in their Wheeling home. Police believe at this time there is no threat to the public.

Police were called to the home in the 300 block of 12th Street at around 5:42 p.m. following a 911 call from a person who had found the two deceased after going to check on them. They were identified as the primary residents of the home.

A gun was discovered near the bodies, according to police.

Police said an investigation is ongoing. The names of the deceased have not been released as the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office conducts an autopsy and family members are notified.
