Freedom, Slavery and its Role in American Music

In observance of Black History Month, Ray Kamalay, singer and guitarist, will perform music that reflects the experience of slavery in America.  He will talk about the origins of American performance traditions such as blackface and minstrel shows and its influence on American music genres such as blues, ragtime, and jazz. Registration required.
