Rodgers and Hart: The Boys from Manhattan by Charles Troy

Richard Rodgers and Larry Hart wrote scores for 25 Broadway shows between 1925 and 1943.  In four separate programs, continuing every Monday through October 17, Charles Troy examines their life through music, video, and slides of lyrics, photos, and graphics. These programs coordinate with the Rodgers & Hart revue being presented by Light Opera Works in October. In this second program, Troy examines Away from Manhattan which focuses on the Depression years which forced them to try Hollywood, with very mixed results.  Excerpts from their efforts, primarily the neglected classic Love Me Tonight, are discussed.  Registration required.
